The Portland Short Track Series is a mountain bike race held at the Portland International Raceway starting in June through early August. This is my first year attending and I signed up for a series pass to make sure I didn't come up with some excuse to not go. Commitment is everything. Here is a description of the course :
"All races will be held on the infield of PIR. The course - which we will change up every week - is a combination of grassy flats, twisty singletrack (under the trees), and rolling dirt track (on the motocross course). The typical lap distance is about 1.0 mile and racers will do multiple laps for the duration of their race. The elevation gain per lap is 20 to 40 ft."
I am not a racer and I don't enjoy rubbing elbows fighting for the hole shot. I grew up racing BMX and I got that competitive spirit beat out of me at a very young age. So why race? Short Track is something rad I can do after work on Monday, hang out with my friends, meet new people and be apart of a rad community. I always cross the finish line with a smile.
You can learn more about the event on Portland Racings website. If your in the Portland area this is the best event you could be doing on a Monday night. Come out and support.
