Sitting in the Andaman Sea in Southern Thailand is the island of Phuket. Phuket is Thailand's largest island, roughly the size of Singapore. Known for it's beautiful beaches, crazy nightlife and unfortunately the 2004 Tsunami which wiped out entire villages and claimed thousands of lives. What most people don't know about Phuket is that it's mountainous topography makes it a cycling mecca. My wife and I spent a few nights at the Secret Cliff Resort which sits on top of the Karon Cliffs sandwiched between Koran and Patong beach. From there I had direct access to some amazing rides which included big climbs, incredible view points and endless seascapes. After doing some research on Strava I decided to attempt the climb up to Phuket's Big Buddah. I was told that the roads leading up to the 147 foot tall statue are extremely steep and can be difficult even on a motorcycle. With that in mind. Bring it on!
