Ira Ryan on Bikes, Balance, and Being a Good Human.

For the first episode of outside is Magic, I sat down with Portland frame builder Ira Ryan, the founder of Ira Ryan Cycles. We talked about what it really means to build something with your hands, the balance between creativity and responsibility, and the ongoing process of trying to be a good human. Ira shared his path from bike messenger to master craftsman, how he keeps himself inspired, and why living on a human scale still matters. It is an honest and reflective conversation, full of perspective from someone who has spent the past two decades shaping bikes and life with intention. This episode is just the start of a bigger journey, one that looks at the highs and lows of creativity and how time outside influences who we are and what we make.
